{ Butter Crumble Apple Pie } ::

apple pie

what do you do with freshly picked apples? why, make pie of course. but not just any apple pie my friends, Butter Crumble Apple Pie!
yes, that's right! what's better than pie crust and a crumble topping? i answer, nothing! crumble on a pie is soooo good! Yum, so so Yum! Seriously the best apple pie i've ever had, ever made! Actually first Apple Pie i've ever made! (Erin L. are you so proud? come here so we can make pie together!) And it was so easy!
I got the recipe from The Country Cook. And here is her pie crust recipe & her butter crumble apple pie recipe here. on the site she shows you step by step pictures of how to make everything, which i always find helpful. but if you don't feel like clicking on over for the recipe, *i will share it here with you and little bits of what I did for my pie!

Butter Crumble Apple Pie

Preheat over to 400 degrees

Pie Crust Ingredients
1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 cup vegetable oil
 2 tbsp. water

 Directions
In a medium bowl, combine flour and salt.
 Stir in oil and water.
 Mix until combined.

Then form into a ball.
Spray your pie pan with non-sticking cooking spray.
Put your ball of dough in the middle of your pie pan.
start pressing down on your ball of dough and spread it to the sides.

Do the best you can to press it to the sides.
you want enough dough along the sides so you can make the pretty crimp at the top of the edge.
It's a forgiving dough, so if it tears a little, or you press to hard, just smush around the dough with your fingers to seal it back together.
And also make sure when pressing the dough on the bottom that its not thick, try and press it out as even as possible.

*once I finished my pie crust and it was all pressed out and the edges were crimped, I put my pie pan in the fridge while I did the apple filling and the crumb top.

For the Filling

6 granny smith apples *(I used Jonagold apples and it was AMAZING!) Peeled, cored, and sliced.
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup sugar *(I used white sugar)
1 tsp. ground cinnamon

*I washed my apples, peeled them, then sliced them, and put all the slices in a large bowl.

In a small bowl, toss the flour, sugar, & cinnamon
Pour the flour, sugar, cinnamon mixture over the apples and toss to coat all the apple slices with the mixture.
*I left my apples in the bowl while I made the butter crumble topping.

 For the Butter Crumble Topping

1/3 cup white sugar
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 stick (8 tablespoons) Butter, room temperature

In a bowl, combine, sugar and flour.
Then add in soften butter.
Using a fork, combine flour mixture with butter until it looks crumbly.

*Get your pie crust out of the fridge, pour your apples into the pie crust, and sprinkle crumble mixture all over the top of the pie.

Bake in the center rack of your oven for about 45 minutes until apples are soft and top is golden brown.

*After about 30 minutes my pie was nice and golden brown, I was afraid my apples weren't cooked all the way, so I just turned my oven down to 300 for 15 more minutes.

And then I took it out and let it set for like 3 hours. That was the hardest part, waiting! I did get a fork and dig out a piece of apple just to doubly make sure the apple was cooked and sure enough it was perfect. I did stick it in the fridge to cool for about 2 hours.

It was amazing pie! like soooo amazing! so what are you waiting for? go make some pie!
