a boy and his balloon...

on one of the days being home in oregon, we had a day of no rain. yup you read that, no rain. but honestly for those who have never been to oregon and only hear that it rains all the time...that is false! but hello, that state is so beautiful and green for a reason! and... there are many days of sun. and we got lucky on one particular day, so we took advantage of the sunny day and went for a nice long walk.

while on our walk and going through the neighborhoods, we were passing the outside of an apartment complex that had a 'apartments for lease' sign. and well i dunno since being married, we've lived in (idaho, oregon, california, new mexico, texas, and now columbus) and well, i've never noticed apartment signs that have HUGE balloons attached to the apartment for lease signs. is it only in beaverton oregon that they do that? no really. i think you'd remember seeing HONKER HUGE balloons floating from a sign. now, i'm totally going to be checking when i am driving. ANYWHOS....the whole point of this...is when we were passing this particular 'apartment for lease' sign, it had HUGE HONKER balloons attached to it. brody really wanted to touch the balloons but couldnt reach them from his stroller, so maybe one of the strings detached from the sign and bouquet of balloons, just maybe...i said maybe, came undone magically. and i gave the balloon to brody. the joy that balloon brought to him will warm my heart for a long long time.

brody held onto that balloon the rest of the way home...and continued to do so when we got home and for the next few days after that...it looked a little something like this...

pretty sure he is so cute...what? you need a close up...

okay, stop it! are you not in love with him? so content and happy! i wasnt kidding when i said that balloon was HONKER! pretty sure, if brody had of held onto 3 of those balloons he could have floated away!

oh how he loved that balloon. he may or may not have even held onto it while he ate his lunch. too bad that i actually really hate balloons and after a couple of days of him using it as a workout ball and rolling around on it and scratching his nails on it and using it as a punching bag, it had to go. i was so afraid it was going to pop!! and i really didnt want to find out how loud a pop could come from a balloon that size. but no worries, i went to the dollar store and bought him a mylar Elmo balloon and he had no idea i made tyson deflat the big huge honker orange balloon. but it was sure cute how much that little boy loved his balloon. i love how something so simple can give someone such joy!! brody is like one big huge hug, he warms the heart and the soul!

How funny! I think it is a Beaverton thing. I’ve never seen that anywhere else either.
